After looking at
the Yurts, we proceeded to the state park entrance. To the east, we can
see the mountains that are between us and Durango.

Those are the San
Juan mountains, and it is there that the Silverton Train runs up from
Durango to Silverton and back again. The dirt road at the far right of
this picture is the County Road N that leads in and out of the state
park. This picture was taken from the state park's entrance.
There is both a
picnic area, and a group picnic area. The group picnic area has a large
pavilion-like area. There are several picnic tables underneath a roof.
Nearby the group picnic area there are two horseshoe pits (so two
groups of people can play at the same time). There are benches for
seating on both sides.
(We later discovered that
the main campground also has a horseshoe pit. It is located somewhere
in the wide open space between sites 2 and 23.) The picnic area also
has a volleyball court.
Then we headed
over to the reservoir

and got a look at
the dam

and some of the
lake.

You can't see the
perspective too well in this picture, but that boat ramp is quite long.
