Finally, we were
allowed to continue. We proceeded through the construction area, passed
through South Fork, and stopped at that same rest area again just
outside of South Fork.
Then we continued on to Monte Vista.
It was time for lunch when we got there. We had eaten an early breakfast so we needed an early lunch. Monte Vista has a Subway sub shop that we have eaten at before on a different trip last year. We pulled in there around 11:00 or 11:30 and ate sub sandwiches for lunch. After lunch, we pulled back out onto the highway and continued towards home. We drove through Alamosa,
and continued along highway 160. It was extremely windy, and there was lots of sand blowing around in the air and across the road. The mountains and the sand dunes
were completely
obscured by the blowing sand. That's probably where all the sand was
coming from.
