As we went up in elevation, we drove into the snow storm, and the temperature began dropping. The snowfall was light, and obscured visibility only minimally.

The road was wet, but clear, with snow blowing across it.

As we approached the summit, the temperature dropped down to 21 degrees. A view out the side window

seemed to indicate that it had been snowing for quite some time. There was a lot of snow off the road, snow that I didn't remember being there three days ago.

We reached the summit of Wolf Creek Pass about 10:00 am.

There was the summit sign, covered by that same dirty snowdrift, but with a new layer of clean white snow on it. We proceeded down the other side and back out of the snow storm. It got lighter out, with the sun starting to show, and the temperature went back up. By the time we reached the construction area, it was somewhere around 32 to 35 degrees.

We saw cars coming through from the other direction, and hoped we would be going through next. But they did it the same way as last time. Eastbound traffic goes through first, then westbound traffic goes through. We ended up having to wait again; this time we were the second vehicle in line. I think we waited here for 45 minutes. During our wait, a man walked up from one of the vehicles farther behind and got permission from the flagperson to use her outhouse. A couple of other guys with him did the same.
